Traffic rules for electric scooters

Where can an electric
scooter drive?

Since the beginning of 2017, a change in the law in Germany has made it possible for e-scooters to use cycle paths if the additional sign "e-bike free" has been added there. These cycle paths are only available for e-scooters with a maximum speed of 25 km/h. Electric scooters up to 45 km/h are still not allowed on cycle paths.

If the design maximum speed is over 60 km/h, you can drive in Germany with your electric scooter on the highway. emco electric scooters have a design-related maximum speed of up to 45 km/h.

Where can an
electric scooter park?

All compulsory two-wheeled vehicles are parked like cars because the same rules apply to vehicles with insurance plates as to all other motor vehicles. On sidewalks may in principle only be parked if it is allowed by appropriate traffic signs. Not always there is enough space and just in the dark on the pavement parked motorcycles or electric scooters endanger pedestrians. Owning an electric scooter means relaxed parking and helps avoid time and traffic jams as well. Ultimately, you save with an electric scooter gasoline and parking costs and expenses for service and repair work.

In which environmental
zones can I drive with the
electric scooter?

With the electric scooter - whether 25 km/h or 45 km/h - you can drive in all environmental zones. Our manoeuvrable city scooters run on electricity and, in contrast to the burner, are emission-free.
